The Return

So lately (i.e. since October) I've been in one of those "I've lost my tail..." kind of moods where I sit down to try and write about something, but then decide my life is much too mundane to bore others with. (Everyone else just posts pictures of their kids and calls it even. I'm not so fortunate.) Then it got to the point where I realized returning to the land of the living was going to take a truly worthy entry. Like so many other things, I found it in Steve.

Over the last few days, I've been thinking a lot about him. It's been quite some time since he's been gone, but there's lots of things that just keep reminding me. I don't think I'll ever be able to hear Alison Krauss and Union Station without thinking back to good times like the random bluegrass festival. Or seeing the beauty of the lit up Los Angeles Temple like I did that first time with him. Or the time he made me swear my wedding colors would never include rust or orange, five years before I ever married. We once planned out how to fix the education and health care systems over peanut butter sandwiches. I'll never forget when we went running to "one of his favorite places" that turned out to be a nude beach- "I swear they always had clothes on before!"

Thanks, Steve.

The one and only time I went to the observatory at BYU was with Steve; Provo never looked better - or rather, looking away from Provo was good times.
I miss Steve too.

He is the reason I joined the church and the reason I served a mission.
