i need help!

Okay, all you photographic people. I am green with envy for your lovely cameras and beautiful creations. I think mine has finally "given up the ghost" if you will, and I am in the market for a good one. I've been working a lot lately, so maybe I'll even go for a nicer one... Recommendations?

I'll let Vivian do the talking when it comes to the actual photography part, but we've got three different kinds of cameras that you could definitely borrow and try out. Just stop by sometime.

it depends if you want a pocket camera or a digital slr. the pocket camera is small, can do video. the dslr can't do video, but allows you to take the picture when you want (no delay) and get a little more creative w/ pics (ie focus, lens, etc) i would take jerry up on his offer and do a test drive.

Thanks. I'm more excited already. I'm no so interested in video- I find myself using our video camera to do that instead of using my old digital. I want something that doesn't have to think about talking a picture for eight years before it actually does. With better zoom. And digital.

Thanks for your help so far.

I'd like to offer a rebuttal to my wife's endorsement of nikon.
I feel that pentax is the way to go. Almost as good for less.
Get the W30 which can do images and video up to 5m deep in water. that's friekin awesome! since it's water/dust proof you can wash it off or drop it in rivers without worrying.
it costs 200 bucks and it is 7 mega pixels...
it totally our next camera.
