In exactly two weeks I will begin dwelling in Egypt for nearly two months. I have never been much of a clothes person, but lately I have been freaking out over clothing. What does one wear in an extremely hot and conservative country?
None of these outfits look particularly cool...
What are your best travel tips?

Oh, I talked with the person who worked in my office who studied in Egypt (and she's leaving for Syria in a month)- she said that linen is the best. She also said that she saw some good things at Old Navy. I guess they are in the swimsuit cover up category, she said add a scarf and they are perfect. and I can give you her email if you want.
Yeah, you should talk to my friend Bridget who lived in Syria and Jordan. She'd probably know.
My friend Amy lived in Cairo for a coupla years and she said that when in touristy areas dress in shorts and Ts cuz everyone does it (like day trips on camels, etc.) but when in town definitely linen-y covery stuff. One "must" on your todo is to check out the gym. Apparently the women's gymwear is cool.
PS Meaning that you can wear whatever you want but that being more covered in the every day life is good for respecting local culture, etc. No one says anything if you don't.
No clothing tips per se, but if you want to borrow the sequined number, just let me know.
Hmmm... good ideas. I have seriously hit the Old Navy lately since they have so much 100% cotton. I tried on all those swimsuit cover up things but they are transparent! I figured layering kind of undoes the lightweight cool look.
I have hunted for as much linen and cotton as possible, though none of the stuff in my closet matches...
I'm excited about the gymwear. I must admit to an unusual fascination with the burquini (http://www.ahiida.com/).
And, I totally want the sequined number!!!
